My name is Tanasak Angsugomutkul ,normally people in Yong Siew Toh conservatory of Music called me Tanasak ,but my friends usually called me BAS. In Thailand every person must have a nickname, so when I am in Thailand everyone called me BAS. I have been playing flute since I was 15 years old, at that time I had no background about music at all.
Why did I choose flute? Actually, when I was a secondary school student, I had no intention to play any kind of instrument, I just want to join the school band. So, I went into the club and asked them "I want to join the band, what should I do?" then my senior said "well, you have to choose an instrument first!' then my senior showed me around the place and introduced every kind of the instruments in the band. At the end he asked "What instrument do you want to play?" , I was shocked because I did not pay any attention to what he said, so I have to choose my next words carefully and asked "What instrument are you holding in your hand?". He replied " Flute?"and I said " OK, I want to play flute". He smiled and introduced me to everyone that he got me to played flute with him.
That is why my journey began. It sounds stupid to someone but it is my true story. I come so far because of that day. And I am very proud of it!

I still can't pronounce you last name.XD
ReplyDeleteWhat does "BAS" mean in Thai?
Bas... unbelievable that you do not remember the conservatory `s name -- it is Yong Siew Toh not Yon Siew Toh. Hahaha..
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that you want to use the word "join" but you write the other word "joy" down.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story, Bas :-)
Thank you so much for correct my spelling.
ReplyDeleteMy last name is "ang-su-go-mut-kul" and I don't know what does BAS mean either.
Great story Tanasak. I can only imagine you have a lot of natural talent with the flute!
ReplyDeleteyour name is so difficult to pronounce. so i think to call you 'bas' is easy ,even it's like to call you 'bus'...
ReplyDeleteInteresting experience! I never heard this kind of story before. I love the sound that flute can produce. It is nice and warm.
