Youth stuck on video games

In today society, statistic proves that children and teens spend too much time on the computer games. For example, in Singapore, middle and high school students spend 27 hour per week on the computer games. The total number of the time that Singaporean students spend on the computer games is very high compare to the class hours of the students in National University of Singapore, which is 20 hours per week in the class room. The study proves that a person who has the “gaming habits” might cost “pathological gaming”, which means the person who play game too much until it affect his/her life. The family and school are demanding to solve this solution. There are many possibilities that could influence the teenagers to have gaming habits but the family and the school are the first persons that we should blame. Family and school should educate the teenagers and children about badness of the computer games and encourage them to try the outdoor activities. It would be better if teenagers and children play computer games and know when to say enough and come back to the reality.

Classical music the touchable sound

For an instrumentalist, generally, the easiest music genre they can approach to is classical music. If somebody would like to pick up an instrument such as piano, flute, violin, viola or cello, they probably learn the classical music at first; furthermore, these instruments were created and developed for classical music at the beginning.

Classical music is easy to learn and endlessly learning. For instant, there are over thousands music school around the world, they are providing the beginning musical training to high music education, from the beginner musician to professional musical training. Besides, there are million of classical piece have been written which everyone can learn from and uncountable musical piece that will be written from this era composers.

Classical music can be play in different ways. It does not have the precisely definition, which means it can be heard in many style or genre. For instant, a Korean pop band used Beethoven’s piano sonata theme in their pop music, the renew music was very popular in the past few years ago.

What music means to me

Music is a part of my life. It became my passion since I started to learn it. It is my affection or perhaps my addiction because I cannot life without music; I always listen to, or play music or sing. Even without my instrument, a music score or an MP3 player in my hands, I am still thinking or practicing musicality in my mind such as clapping my hands and legs or singing the melodies that pop up in my head.

Music is also my pride. Normally, people can play some easy pieces on their instrument but they did not have a chance to perform for the public. As a music student I have to study difficult pieces and also have opportunities to perform in concerts. I am always very pleased when I played something on my flute and somebody listened to it and made some comment for me; it really made me feel more valuable and made me feel I was improving myself as a musician.

I rather surprise myself; at the very beginning, I never thought I could learn something abstract such as music. I wanted to study law when I was 15 years old, after I practicing the flute, I suddenly changed my mind. Now I come a cross the sea and pursuing the Bachelor degree in flute major performance. I love in what I do and happy to keep leaning it.

Leonore Overture No.3

Hi everyone! I am here to introduce you about Leonore Overture no.3, composed by Ludwig van Beethoven! He was a German composer and pianist. He was a crucial figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western classical music, and remains one of the most acclaimed and influential composers of all time.

Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3. Is there anybody who can tell me what is “Leonore” means? OK, basically Beethoven wrote only one opera which is Fidelio and the opera must have an overture theme to represent the entire opera. And the Leonore Overture No.3 is one of that themes, it will perform in the beginning of the second act of the opera. Leonore is the name of main character in the opera, which she had saved her lover, Florestan, she released him from the prison.

In this recording, Georg Solti conducted Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra playing slowly tempo at the beginning and the flute’s sound showing up in major key. After that the string section take over and play in the heroic style. But! After that the flute will have a big solo part lead to the end.

Flute in woodwind family

Hi! I am here to introduce you to the woodwind family! Is there anybody who can tell me what “woodwind” means? Yes, basically woodwind is just 2 words that are combined together. Wood means wood and Wind means Air. This term stands for the process of making a sound from these instruments. In ancient times, they made holes in the wooden tube and blew it to create sound. After that musicians developed it in to many kinds of woodwind instruments and it takes so much time and effort to make these kinds of instruments nowadays. But for the flute, it’s different. Do u know what it is made of at the beginning? It was made of a bone from animal bones and the they change it to wood and then the man named Theobald Boehm made a flute from the alloy.

The core value of the composition

When the composer completes his composition, he feels the need to present his work to the public. The audience is free to respond in a positive or negative manner to the presentation of the work, but this does not necessarily define them as judge.
The audience does not have the right to determine the quality of the work, although they have the right to form opinions on the performance. The result of whether the work is successful or not, depends on the audiences’ choice.
The composer cannot control the judgement made by the audiences. Although the composer cannot predict the audiences opinion, however performer has the potential to do so.
Thus, the role of the performer is crucial. Te performer must understand the inner working of the work in order to create a convincing performance and clearly communicate the core values of the work in a way which the audience can understand. Therefore, the audiences’ opinion of the work is entirely dependent on the performance of the new piece. The responder’s acceptance of the work cannot be guaranteed.
It is important that the wider public is exposed to the importance of music education. With this knowledge they will be able to understand the new conventions of the work. Then the listener can fully understand and associate with the composer. However most listeners enjoy music from the surface.

Musician Achievement

How can we succeed as a musician? Many people say that musicians tend to spend a lot of time practicing hard to become a great musician one day however, I do not agree that a musician should only practice. How can one get a job if you always live in the practice room? If a musician is always practicing, they become machine-like because all you can do is practice and perform on stage. What about a normal life as a human?

Practicing all day long is not a good thing to do. For example, having a noodle every meal to earn more time in your practice room is seriously dangerous. I strongly disagree with someone who might be doing this because you will be deficient in nutrition. Your body will become skinny and very weak. Just eat proper meals, do more exercise and take a good care of yourself for a healthy living. A successful musician should have a healthy body.

You can make people cry with your sound but you have no friends. Friends share information, listen and always share their opinion with you. In my opinion, a great musician which has many good friends will make his life better. Those friends will help, listen and introduce other people to you, with support of your friends, you will become a better musician. Be friendly, and you will going forward together with your friends.

There are so many cultures in this world to learn and so many people to meet. It is beneficial, if you can speak Chinese or English but that is not enough. It will be better if you can learn the different cultures too. This task requires another skill. You need to open your mind, your eyes and your heart to learn. Every people in this world is your teacher.

To become a good musician, we should have a good personality, a good knowledge of language, healthy body and also play very well on our instrument. I came to Singapore not to be an IPOD which can walk and play music. I came here to become a professional musician.

Gustavo Dudamel, he is young talente and dedicated conducter! He did very well in this performance and shared it to everyone in the world, no wonder that so many people called him "a young genius". He conducted the El Sistema's top youth orchestra with his smile, and bring the audiences to the another world! Many of the conducters leaded the orchestra with the cool posting but Dudamel leaded the band with the confidence and give the good sign to control the musician, every movement of his is reasonable. Musicians must trusted in him that is why they can made the good quality of the sounds and feeling. It not about how old is he, it is about what did he do to make him stand at that point. We should learn from him.

The Mission

from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2MycU_N634

This song is one of my favorite pieces of music. It is so easy to listen and also easy to play. You will see how wonderful it is, just close your eyes and listen to the beautiful melody. You can imagine about the mountain, the birds and ancient history of the humanization.

The melody is so smooth, so brilliant even can describe the mother nature. Peaceful is also the meaning of this song. You can see the chorus praying before the ending of this song. and it was gorgeous.

In my opinion, the world can united by this kind of music. It is the direct language through everyone heart.

MY STORY

My name is Tanasak Angsugomutkul ,normally people in Yong Siew Toh conservatory of Music called me Tanasak ,but my friends usually called me BAS. In Thailand every person must have a nickname, so when I am in Thailand everyone called me BAS. I have been playing flute since I was 15 years old, at that time I had no background about music at all.

Why did I choose flute? Actually, when I was a secondary school student, I had no intention to play any kind of instrument, I just want to join the school band. So, I went into the club and asked them "I want to join the band, what should I do?" then my senior said "well, you have to choose an instrument first!' then my senior showed me around the place and introduced every kind of the instruments in the band. At the end he asked "What instrument do you want to play?" , I was shocked because I did not pay any attention to what he said, so I have to choose my next words carefully and asked "What instrument are you holding in your hand?". He replied " Flute?"and I said " OK, I want to play flute". He smiled and introduced me to everyone that he got me to played flute with him.

That is why my journey began. It sounds stupid to someone but it is my true story. I come so far because of that day. And I am very proud of it!
